In 1851, Thomas (born Leigh) and Catherine (41 & 40) were at Bottom Croft, Wigan. Thay had only just married in 1850. Thomas was a widow, so must have been married before.
Thomas may have married Margaret Leigh in Pemberrton on 18 Oct 1841. His father was Nathan Mather a miner, so possibly another family. The 1836 marriage to Margaret Shelmerdine in Leigh seems more likely, although fathers were not recorded at this time.
