Mary's father was Nathan Mather and her mother was Jane (Jenny) Birchenhead. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Matthew, Abraham, Thomas, Sarah and Betty.  She was the third youngest of the six children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Abraham, Abraham, James and Peggy.  She died at the age of 3 in June 1806 in WestLeigh.  She was buried on June 23rd, 1806 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).²
