Alice Mather 
Alice was born in 1838 in Hyde.1 Alice's father was Matthew Mather and her mother was Jane Taylor. Her paternal grandparents were Nathan Mather and Jane (Jenny) Birchenhead. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, Matthew, John, Jane, May and Eliza. She was the third youngest of the eight children.
