John Mather

John was born in 1836 in Bolton.¹   John's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Margaret Shelmerdine. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Robert, James, William, Nancy, Mary and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the seven known children.
