In 1841, George (15) was living with his parents (Job, Lucy) and siblings Susannah (15), Ruth (13) and Martha (9)  at Park Gate, Berry Brow, Almondbury, Huddersfield

19 Feb 1849, George Stocks, 25, Delver, son of Job  married Rebecca Robinson, 24, spinster, dau of Robert Robinson of Milne Bridge, Linthwaite.

In 1851, George and Rebecca (27 & 24) are living at 32 Back Grosvenor St., Stalybridge, Lancashire (Castle Hall area) with 2 lodgers (George and Ann Gleddill) and 1m old son Samuel (born in Cheshire).

From 1851 to 1856, George and Rebecca had their 4 chirdren, with Albert registered at Hartshead and the others (Samuel, Sarah Jane and Walter) at Dukinfield. 

In 1856, George and "Rebecca" were living at 57 Grass Croft Street, Dukinfield (where son Walter was born).

Betweein 1856 and 1861, George and Rebecca moved from Stalybridge to Haslingden. In 1861 they had left Stalybridge and Joseph and Mary Ann Midword, another stone mason, was living there (district 27a).

In 1861, George (37, Head) a Stone Mason from Berry Brow, is with wife "Ann" (35), living at 128 Dowry Street, Haslingden, Old Accrington with sons Samuel and Albert (10 & 9, both labourers born Stalybridge).

Between 1861 and 1871, Rebecca Ann died, or was it earlier and the Ann in 1861 is another worman?

In 1871, George (48, Widower, Mason), lodging with son Albert (18) and Smith family (Joseph a grocer, wife Martha and two infants) at Gilstead, Bingley, Yorkshire.

George died in 1873 of phthisis (i.e. pulmonary tuberculosis or a similar progressive wasting disease).  His son albert was present at the death.

NOTE: Dont confuse another George Stocks (29, porter) from Huddersfield married to Rebecca (24) from Manchester in Birkenhead in 1861. They are too young.

The Alice that married Philip Thomas in 1884 was another. 1837 Robert John Draine In 1837, Robert was born in Blackburn, although both his parents were from Bolton.

In  1851, Only child Robert, 14, was lodging at 327 Kay Street, Blackburn with parents John and Betty (48 & 41).

In 1861, Robert (23) and wife Ann (24) were living with Robert's parents John and Betty (60 & 59).

In 1871, Robert Stott Drain (38) and Hannah (35) had son John (10), Lewis (13) and Sarah Terry (66, Motheri-in-law from Kirkland)

 1821 - 1895 Winifred Astley 74 74 Winifred Astley married John Smith in Q2/1839.

In 1861, Thomas Sharples (27) and his wife Betty (22) and son Robert (2) were also boarding at Rings Rows, Higher Booths. 1840 - 1840 Mary Draine 4m 4m 1861 - 1902 Alfred James Watkins 41 41 1895 - 1963 Robert Stott Watkins 68 68 Grandfather of "jrbsode" to whom I have a High DNA match.

Robert Stott Watkins (1895-1963) was in the British Army: Kings Own Scottish Borders, Service No.241230. His older brother Thomas was a gunner.

in 1939, Robert S Watkins was living with Dorothy and Jack at Rawtenstall 1892 Alice Hannah Draine 1835 - 1895 Hannah (Anna) Astin 60 60 Hannah, dau of John Astin, a carder (deceased before her 1857 marriage).

In 1861, Robert (23) and Ann (24) were living with Robert's parents. 1861 - 1953 John Draine 92 92 John was born in 1861 at Chapel Lane, Goodshaw.  John is the only baptised son of Robert and Ann, and there is a suspicion if Robert didnt have children, that John he may have been the illegitimate son (e.g. of George Stocks, explained by DNA).

1885 to 1893, John and Elizabeth lived in Rossendale. However, in 1888 there son John R was registered in Sharples. From 1895, the last two births are registered in Rawtenstall.

In 1901, John and Elizabeth only had 3 surviving children; Mary M (15), Alice H (9) and Walter (1). 1928 - 2017 John (Jack) Alfred Watkins 88 88 J.W. is a shared DNA match with myself and John Graham, so a Paternal match. 1921 - 2004 Dorothy Watkins 83 83 in 1939, Dorothy Watkins was living with Robert S and Jack at Rawtenstall 1863 Elizabeth Knowles Daughter of John Knowles and Jane Abbot.  The third of 10 children.

In 1871, Elizabeth (8) was with her parents John and Jane (28 & 29), 5 siblings and her cousin Joseph Knowles (9).  The family wee from Blackburn and had moved to Higher Booths around 1866.

Jonathan's mother may have been Margaret Hamer, who was a Shop Keeper (aged 50) at Great Moor Street in 1841. His father may have been the Thomas Hamer (50 in 1841), a Shop Keeper at Black Horse Street.

In 1871, John was a Heald Varnisher in Cotton, working at Wigan and married to Elizabeth (no children present).

April 1881, John (brother, 79, Wid) was back with his siblinghs Sarah, Ann and James at Greenfield Nook.

11 Dec 1881, John, a varnisher, died at Greenfield Nook.  John died a widower.  His sister Sarah was executor of his Will. 1809 Elizabeth Pickup in 1828, Elizabeth may have had an illegitimate daughter Elizabeth (if the 3y child with them in 1851 really was a granddaughter).. 1848 Mary Ann Horsfield Mary Ann's mother was PICKUP.  It is likely her mother was Elizabeth Pickip, an illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth. However, when she married, she recorded her father as William Pickup, a weaver

in 1851, Mary Ann Horsfield, aged 3 was with her grandparents John and Elizabeth Hargreaves.  She may be closely related to Edward Horsefield and Alice Cottam who had just married in 1851 and were neighbours.

In 1861, Mary Ann Horsefield was the oldest of 6 children of William and Elizabeth Horsefield (33 & 34) 1848 William Brown 1870 - 1915 Laura Brown 44 44 27 Dec 1884, Laura married William Hartley Shepherd at Holme in Cliviger when she was only 14 years old. She recorded her age as 18.  She had probably had a son just before she married that died an infant.

In 1851, Damiel and Mary (31 & 29) were at 82 Saint George's Place, Little Bolton with Mary's mother Maty Kirkman (Wid, 68) and his brother Joseph Haddock (22) and others.

In 1861, Daniel and Mary Haddock (41 & 38) were at Bolton with 4 children and Daniel's Mother-In-Law Mary Kirkman (68). 1822 - 1892 Mary Kirkman 70 70 Mary's mother was also Mary (Kirkman)

In 1851 John Lomax a railway plater and Martha (26 & 25) had daughter Sarah Lever (5), John Lomax (2), Jacob (8mo) and John's mother Ann (68, pauper, warehouse woman)

In 1871, John (46, Pawnbroker, born Harwood) and Martha were at 333 Blackburn Road with all six children.

in 1881 John (56, Pawnbroker and Counterpane Manufacturer) and Martha and family were at 347 Blackburn Road. There was also John Lomax (47, Pawnbroker) living at 24 Grosvener Street, Bolton married to Betsy with son Walter and daughter Mary

In 1891, John Lomax (66, Pawnbroker, born Harwood) was a widower, still living at 347 Blackburn Road with Sarah (45), Mary (30) and Thomas D (25).  Also, In 1891, John Lomax (67, Pawnbroker and General Dealer, born Bolton) was married to Betsy (57) at 144 St George's Road, Little Bolton with a single daughter Mary. This other John died 29 June 1891 (next of kin Walter John Lomax). 

Was John a biggamist?  Probably not !

1 June 1933, Edwin Richardson (32), an Analytical Chemist, Bachelor, 84 Dallas Road, Lancaster married Martha A Haddock at Bolton, St. George's Road Congregational Church.

Edwin and Martha lived in Sweden and had two sons, Thomas and George (born in Sweden - TBC). 1848 - 1925 John Lomax 76 76 John was a pawnbroker, like his father before him.

About 1887, John married Mary Marion Landsborough Rankin, probably married before (TBC).  They had a son John William in 1890 that died and in 1891 had a daughter Jessie (another child died).  MMN = RANKIN.  They had been married 24 years in 1911.

John Died 6 March 1925.  He left £58 to May Marion Landsborough Lomax, widow of Joseph Gregory Haddock.

However, this appears to be the Alfred Edward Hargreaves (1926-2016) who is also in June Eddmond's tree, both with shared DNA matches to me.

In 1861, William was not at home in Habergham Eaves.  His wife Susannah (24, Mar) was with their son Thomas (4), mother Sarah Slater (62), sister Jane (33) and niece Mary Slater (11)

In 1866 William left his wife and absconded to New Zealand.

In 1871, there was another Willaim and Susannah Hargreaves (38 & 33) with John Richard (13), Henry (10), Elizabeth (8) and Mary (6) - All birth records show this was mother Susannah Rawstron, births at Haslingden. This (other) William Hargreaves married Susannah Rawstron at Haslingden in 1857.
