Clara was born in 1899 in Burnley.1  Clara's father was Thomas Hargreaves and her mother was Mahala (Milly) Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were William Hargreaves and Susannah Slater; her maternal grandparents were John Smith and Mary Ann Harfoot. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Frank, Ernest, Harry, Allan, Alice, Isabel and Lucy.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 41 in July 1940 in Surrey.  She was buried on July 6th, 1840 in Surrey.2 3
