Isabel's father was Thomas Hargreaves and her mother was Mahala (Milly) Smith. Her paternal grandparents were William Hargreaves and Susannah Slater; her maternal grandparents were John Smith and Mary Ann Harfoot. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Frank, Ernest, Harry, Allan, Alice, Clara and Lucy. She was the sixth oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 91 on February 7th, 1994 in Bucks. Her burial was in February 1994 in Bucks.²
