Josiah was born in June 1851 in Stockport.1  Josiah's father was Josiah Taylor and his mother was Ellen Harrison. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, Thomas, Stephen, Joseph, Charles and Margaret.  Josiah and Margaret were twins.
