Harriet was born in 1887. Harriet's father was William Hargreaves and her mother was Ellen White. Her paternal grandparents were James Hargreaves and Mary Slater. She had ten brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Frederick, James, George, William, Robert, Edward, John, Albert, Alfred, Martha, Mary, Sarah and Matilda. She was the third youngest of the fifteen known children. She had two half-brothers named James and Thomas. She died at the age of 87 in 1974.
