- Mary Ann's mother was PICKUP. It is likely her mother was Elizabeth Pickip, an illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth. However, when she married, she recorded her father as William Pickup, a weaver
  
  in 1851, Mary Ann Horsfield, aged 3 was with her grandparents John and Elizabeth Hargreaves. She may be closely related to Edward Horsefield and Alice Cottam who had just married in 1851 and were neighbours.
  
  In 1861, Mary Ann Horsefield was the oldest of 6 children of William and Elizabeth Horsefield (33 & 34)
