Samuel was born in September 1889 in Northwich.1  Samuel's father was William Buckley and his mother was Elizabeth Young.  His paternal grandparents were William Buckley and Esther Stretch; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Young and Mary Gerrard. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, George, Arthur, Herbert, Albert, Elizabeth and Lucy.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died as an infant in September 1889 in Northwich.1
