In 1841, Job and Lucy Stocks (both 35) were at Park Gate, Berry Brow, Almondbury with George (15), Susannah (15), Ruth (13) and Martha (9)

In 1851, Job & Lucy (47 & 48) are still at Park Gate with Ruth and Martha (22 & 19). Emma Stocks (grandaughter, 1 yr) is probably Ruth's daughter.  William, Susana and Emma Horsfall are neighbours.

In 1870, LIucy was ill and lost her left hand.  She died two years later.

Only sure of father being Jonathan.  By matching all Jonathan Croslands, it is probable that the mother was Betty Liversedge, in which case there are three more sons.

Daniel may have been a property owner, as there is rate collected for Netherthong from Godfry Berry (1798, 1807, 1820) and Francis Vickerman (1823, 1825). 1795 Elizabeth Crosland Elizabeth may have married Joseph Savile 13 Aug 1815, but no matching census to confirm. 1797 - 1857 John Crosland 60 60 It is possible this John (using Highfield Chapel) that married Elizabeth and the John from Lindley that married Mary Wilkinson are reversed (as there is a possible DNA connection for the other John). However, it is only this John that is associated with Highfield Independant Chapel for himself and his children..

The only John Crosland and Elizabeth marriage before Selina was born was in Leeds in 1817.  John is a Cloth Dresser which fits perfectly. Presumably Elizabeth was from Leeds.  Their son Henry married at Halifax.

In 1841, John and Eliz (43 & 45) are at West Parade, Huddersfield with Thomas (19), Henry (17), Ellen (16), Elizabeth (9), John (7) and Sarah (6).

IN 1851, John a cloth dresser and Elizabeth (53 & 55) were still at West Parade with Ellen (26), Elizabeth (18), John William (16) and Sarah (14).

In 1854 Elizabeth died and in 1857 John died. Elizabeth and John Crosland (both 59) are buried in grave 160, together with Selina Thompson (42), John William Thompson (16) and Herbert and Oliver Crosland (infants) at Highfield, Huddersfield Burial Ground.  They are buried next to another John Crosland in grave 159, so is he related?
 1807 - 1857 Charles Crosland 50 50 In 1851, Charles and Hannah (43 & 22) were with Mary (12) and James (11).  Also daughter Ann Garlick and Alex (24 & 23) with Hannah (11 mo).  Also Sarah Crosland (5t mo)

Charles family from Holme, as Charles is buried with Rachel Crosland (possible wife, b.1830), and Rev. Joseoh Broardhurst's family. 1804 - ~1847 Hannah Crosland 43 43 In 1827, Hannah married Joshua Bottomley of Upperthong (the home where Hanna's grandfather Jonathan died).  Hannah Crosland was also of Upperthong.

Hannah died before 1851. 1806 - 1886 James Crosland 79 79 There are two possible Almondbury marriages for James: 
1826 Martha Gledhill (both of Crossland)
1829 Ann Taylor (both of Crossland)
There are three possible Bradford marriages:
1824 James (weaver) & Elizabeth Pollard
1830 James (cloth drawer) & Mary Clegg
1830 James (no town) & Hannah Cock

Of the 5 marriages (above), Mary and Hannah are likely, and since the 1851 census shows James born Berry Brow with Hannah, this is therefore assumed to be the correct marriage, but which Hannah?  Is must be Hannah Cock, as the census shows us that the James Crosland and Hannah Lockwood couple (m.1822) were born about 1800.

Joseph Crosland (23) Bachelor son of Daniel Clothier married Ann Deannley (20) Spinster, both of Holme. 1739 - 1817 Jonathan Crosland 78 78 7 June 1764, Jonathan Crosland of Butternab married Betty Liversedge of Dungeon.  Butternam is the Southern end of Beaumont Park (called Dungeon Wood on the 1854 OS map), so they lived very nearby along the Beaumont Park Road. Dungeon Wood Bottoms lies next to Dog Hall and further North are Dungeon Grove and Dungeon Cottages.  The Dungeon Turnpike is now the B6108 Meltham Road.

1765-1771, the births were recorded at Almondbury with mother Betty.

In May 1772, a month after Joshua was baptised, wife Ellen died, recorded as "Ellen Wife of James Crosland of Deadmanstone Attorney at Law Houses", aged 33.

James also had a son Joshua of DeadManStone, Clert to John Battye, so several Batty family connections.

Aug 1775, after his wife Ellen had died, James re-married Abigail Hirst at Huddersfield St Peter.

22 Jan 1784, James Crosland of DeadManStone, Attorney, paid duty for Thomas Shaw, an apprentice.

In 1799 Jame's son James Jnr was living at DeadManStone when he married Martha Batty by license.

20 Mar 1804 James Crosland of DeadmanStone, a gentleman died.  He has a burial with headstone at Almondbury.

In 1801, Charles was still alive living at Newsome when his wife Hannah died.

William was a Medical Practitioner on all the UK baptisms (i.e. 1833-40).  In 1841, William was a Suregon and not from Lancashire.

The family were on the June 1841 UK Census, and later 1841 Charles Aaron Crosland was born 1st Dec 1841 in New Work.  The family must have emigrated about July or August 1841 before Dorothy was too heavily pregnant.

In 1851, William now 39 was a Physician in New York. 1810 - 1852 Dorothy Kay 42 42 Dorothy was the daughgter of William Kay of Goosnargh. Soon after Dorothy emigrated to the USA, her father died. William Kay of Little Inglewhite was buried at Whitechapel 16 Oct 1842, aged 55. 

Lawrence Kay of Inglewhite (1832-1850), buried at Whitechapel 10 June was probably a cousin.

Charles to too young to Marry Hannah Ocley 1791.  The Charles that married Mary Taylor in 1798 was the son of James from Kirkheaton (and both still alive in 1851).  The Charles that married Hannah Longbottom in 1803 at Huddersfield may be him. 1734 - 1821 William Crosland 87 87 It is likely William (and Joseph) is an older brother of Jonathan as he and Joseph were his marriage witnesses. 1812 Jonathan Crosland Jonathan of Daniel and Mary Crosland of New-laith, parish of Kirkburton, was born June 9th baptised July 5th 1812.

NOTE: Theres another Jonathan, son of Jos Crosland baptised 18 Oct 1812 at Almondbury.  Also, this is not the Danial (son of Jonathan) and Mary family from Almondbury.

In 1846, Dan (aged 24) of Austonley son of Jonathan Crosland (both Clothiers) married Ann Lindley. Was this his son?  TBC 1768 - 1855 Mary Kinder 86 86 Father William of Dungeon, Clothier.  This must be right as Daniel Crosland's father Jonathan and uncle Joseph were also from Dungeon (near Butternab). Joseph son of William baptised the same year must be another family.

The 1841 census has a Mary Crossland, Shopkeeper in Tong.  Could this be her?

In 1851, Mary is still alive in Blase Hill, Huddersfield (where she later died).  She has her two nieces Elizabeth (49) and Sarah (45) Crosland with her, with a two servants: cook and housemaid. 1791 - 1853 Joseph Crosland 62 62 There is no evidence to support William being the son of Charles and Ann.  He is more likely the son of William and Annah, baptised 30 Jan 1791

Hannah died in 1808 and Edward 5 years later.  Edward and Hannah are buried together at Highfield (Independant).

1796-1808 baptism records for James, Martha and Sarah include the mothers maiden name, confirming the 1785 marriage..

In 1841 James (60), a clother was at Berry Brow with Sally Crosland (35) and Joseph (15).

In 1851 James was still alive at 1339 Berry Brow with his daughter Sarah (46).
