John was born in March 1739 in Darcy Lever and his baptism took place on March 16th, 1739 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  John's father was John Crook and his mother was Margaret Sharples.  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Crook and Alice Lomax. He had four brothers and a sister, named James, Joshua, Samuel, William and Betty.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 81 in December 1820 in Bolton.  He was buried on December 21st, 1820 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2

‌John and Rachel were married in a religious ceremony on October 12th, 1766 in Harwood by Whitehead and witnessed by William Crook.4  They had four sons and three daughters, named Thomas, John, John, James, Alice, Alice and Mary.  There are no more children.  Alice and John were twins.


John's second family with Alice Entwistle

‌John and Alice were married in a religious ceremony on October 16th, 1792 at St. Mary (Deane).11   They had a daughter named Ann.
