Joshua was born in 1744 in Darcy Lever and his baptism took place on June 1st, 1744 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Joshua's father was John Crook and his mother was Margaret Sharples.  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Crook and Alice Lomax. He had four brothers and a sister, named John, James, Samuel, William and Betty.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 33 in November 1777 in Darcy Lever.  He was buried on November 18th, 1777 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2

‌Joshua and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on January 5th, 1768 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3  They had three sons and two daughters, named John, Samuel, James, Ann and Mary.  There are no more children.  James and Mary were twins.
