  Note: All are listed in date order except Jonathon. This is probably because Jonathon was baptised in 1807 (i.e. not 1827 as shown). 1807 would also be consistent with census returns. Mary Crook may not be the same family as baptised by a different minister.

Mary was born in 1781 in Tonge-with-Haulgh and her baptism took place on August 24th, 1781 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

Mary's father was John Crook and her mother was Rachel Kay. Her paternal grandparents were John Crook and Margaret Sharples; her maternal grandparents were William Kay and Elizabeth Shaw. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, John, James, Alice and Alice. She had a half-sister named Ann. She died at the age of 79 on January 3rd, 1860 at Knoll Place (Cornelious). Her burial was on January 7th, 1860 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.³³

Death Notes
- died between 1851 and 1861. There are several possible matches for Bolton (which included Darcy Lever), but the Lancashire BMD (with age) reduces the choice to one match.

      Cornelius Buckley was recorded as living here in 1838 when he married Esther Scowcroft.
      
      John Mather recorded Crook St as his address in 1838 when his son Benjamin was born and again in 1842 when his wife Ellen (John and Mary's daughter) died.
      
      By 1851, except for Mary, their children had left home and they had 9 lodgers and visitors to fill what must have been a big house.
