Mary and John were married in a religious ceremony on February 15th, 1802 in Prestwich by James Lyon and witnessed by James Winterbottom and Edward Redford.6
Marriage/Union Notes
Several researchers have differing marriages for John Buckley. Mary Leech and Mary Hurst are suggested.
Their youngest Sarah Ann Buckley was Baptized in Jan 1803, so you would expect a marriage between 1799 and 1803.
From the 1851 census, it is clear Mary was from Bolton, and their children were baptised at Little Bolton, so one would expect a marriage to a Mary in Bolton. There are 6 marriages between 1799 and 1803, and only one near Bolton (at Prestwich) to Mary Crook. This marriage is further supported as Mary Crook (a relative) is included on the baptism records (same page as all their children).

I suspect the following FamilySearch record may be a typo, and is actually 21 Jan 1807. This would then match with all other records, including ALL his siblings baptism records at the same place. The death index also suggests he was born in 1807.

On the 1841 census, Ellen was aged 20 (which is rounded to 5 years), so was between 15 and 25 (i.e. born 1816 to 1826).
The marriage certificate of Ellen and John has Ellen of "Full Age", and John and "Minor", but the 1841 census shows John older then Ellen. However the Baptism record does suggest she was born about 1816, so of same age, so born before 9 Oct 1816 (i.e. 21 when married)
Ellen was living in Halliwell in 1837, and we only know she was born somewhere in Lancashire (probably East Bolton) from the 1841 census.
