Ellen was born on February 23rd, 1816 in Bolton and her baptism took place on February 23rd, 1816 at Moor Lane Baptist.1 2  Ellen's father was John Buckley and her mother was Mary Crook.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Buckley and Sarah Ogden; her maternal grandparents were John Crook and Rachel Kay. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Cornelius, Jonathan, Benjamin, Sarah and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the six children.  She died due to a medical problem, Fever of the Brain, at the age of 26 on September 6th, 1842 in Bolton.3
