Alice was born in 1780 in Tonge-with-Haulgh and her baptism took place on March 12th, 1780 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Alice's father was John Crook and her mother was Rachel Kay.  Her paternal grandparents were John Crook and Margaret Sharples; her maternal grandparents were William Kay and Elizabeth Shaw. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, John, James, Alice and Mary. She had a half-sister named Ann.

‌Alice and William were married in a religious ceremony on June 26th, 1799 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Vicar Thomas Bancroft and witnessed by Robert Mason & William Orrell.2   The family line is yet to be completed.
