Catherine's father was John Crook and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Twisse.  Her maternal grandparents were Peter Twisse and Katherine Welch. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Peter, Mary, Ellen and Betty.  She was the third youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 21 in 1767.
