John Crook

John was born in 1740 in Harwood and his baptism took place on June 4th, 1740 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

John's father was John Crook and his mother was Hannah (Ann) Twisse. His maternal grandparents were Peter Twisse and Katherine Welch. He had a brother and four sisters, named Peter, Mary, Catherine, Ellen and Betty. He was the second oldest of the six children.

- There is another John and Rachel (or Rachael) Crook family from Hutton, Penwortham (near Preston), Lancashire, England. Baptisms overlap, so cannot be the same family.

- From 1766 John's occupation was Carpenter in Tonge-with-Haulgh.
