Alice's father was John Crook and her mother was Ann Parkinson.  Her paternal grandparents were Mordicai Crook and Alice Crompton. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Mordicai, Mordicai, John, James, Margaret, Ann, Elizabeth and Ann.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
