Elizabeth's father was John Crook and her mother was Ann Parkinson.  Her paternal grandparents were Mordicai Crook and Alice Crompton. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Mordicai, Mordicai, John, James, Margaret, Ann, Alice and Ann.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
