Mordicai's father was Mordicai Crook and his mother was Alice Crompton. He had three brothers and a sister, named James, John, Thomas and Esther. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 20 in December 1765 in Turton. His burial was on December 26th, 1765 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²
