John Lever 
John was born in 1827 in Oldham.1 John's father was Thomas Lever and his mother was Martha Crook. His maternal grandparents were John Crook and Ann Tommason. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jacob, Janes, William, Joseph, Ann, Martha and Betty. He was the oldest of the eight children.-
