Benjamin was born on November 3rd, 1819 in Bolton and his baptism took place on November 3rd, 1819 at Moor Lane Baptist.1  Benjamin's father was James Crook and his mother was Alice Walker.  His paternal grandparents were John Crook and Ann Parkinson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Samuel, Mordicai, Ann and Mary.  Benjamin, Samuel and Mordicai were triplets.
