Margaret was born in 1847 in Bolton.1  Margaret's father was John Horrocks and her mother was Esther Crook.  Her maternal grandparents were Christopher Crook and Margaret Donovan. She had two sisters named Alice and Ellen.  She was the youngest of the three children.
