Maria (53, Mar) was a Shopkeeper in 1871 at 7 Bamber St, Bolton.  Her daughter Ann was with her.  She remarried in 1878 and was still a shopkeeper in 1881 at 14 Barlow St, Little Bolton and also recorded at 7 Bamber St.

There is another Richard Turner and Maria of similar age in 1871 (before ours were married) and in 1881. This other Richard is a Stripper and Grinder from Bolton.
1812 - 1813 Abraham Bolton 10m 10m 1806 - 1877 Sarah Bolton 71 71 Sarah probably married either Philip Banks (30 Sep 1827) or Thomas Piklington (2 Jan 1828) or George Thomas (15 Dec 1834).  A DNA match to Grant Brindley, son of Keith Hart with three shared matches supports the marriage to Philip Banks. 1810 - 1887 Richard Bolton 77 77 WARNING: There is another BOLTON+ASPINALL family from Mellor, Preston.  They had a daughter Elizabeth there in 1840, and Andrew Bolton (1842-1850).  Since Andrew died there in 1850, it can't be the same family.

In 1841, Richard and Mary (30 & 25) were in East Bolton with Ann and Thomas (4 & 1).  Three families were neighbours.

In 1871, Thomas Banks (42) and Richard Bolton (61) were lodgers with Josiah & Ellen Welsby, and his mother Maria.

In 1881, Richard Bolton (70), and Emily Bolton (29) were living with Thomas and Mary Brierley and family.

In 1841, Elizabeth was 6mo old, living with parents Walter and M Welsby at Pilkington Street, East Bolton.

By 1871, Elizabeth Mary and Thomas had all married or left home.  Her mother Maria (53, shopkeeper) was a widow living with her son Josiah and daughter Ann (14) at Bamber Street.

Elizabeth may have married Robert Thornley.  In 1871 and 1881 they where living at 10 Halliwell Fold (near Bk Cannon Street).  There is good DNA evidence that this is the correct marriage.
1843 - 1885 Josiah Welsby 41 41 Josiah was the son of Walter a Wheelwright, so he became a Jobbing Joiner (in 1881).

Josiah Welsby married Ruth Ellen Shaw in Bolton Q4/1869.

In 1859 when he married, Thomas was at 14 Shaw Street, Great Bolton and his wife to be Elizabeth at No. 16 Shaw Street. This may have been a parade of shops.

They are missing in 1861.  Another Thomas and Elizabeth Banks lived in Chorley.

Although fully indexed, there are no BANKS+GEADMAN births registered in Lancashire.  Between 1857-72 there are several BANKS+GERMAN births, but this is for James Banks and Elizabeth German who married in Deane in 1854.

In 1871, Thomas (42) was living with his cousin Ellen and her husband Josiah Welsby.  Also his uncle Thomas Banks.

They also have Elizabeth and Peter Banks (17 & 19), described as dau and son but the cant be.  They are too old be be John or Rachel's children, so must be adopted.

In 1876, John (recorded as 40, but actually 44) was a widower, living in Dean Village when he married a much younger Mary Higson (32).

In 1881, John and Mary (44 & 37) were at 10 Joseph Lee Street, West Bolton. They had John (14), Margaret A (11), Mary A (4) and Elizabeth (9mo).  Also Sarah A Banks (10) and Thomas Higson (15).

In 1865, Richard may have married Ellen Tomlinson and Bolton Christ Church.
1840 Mary Banks In 1851, "Mary P" was 11 and living in Farnworth with her parents.

There are many possible Bolton marriages for Mary Banks, but none for "Mary P".

He is too old to be John or Rachel's son, so must be adopted, perhaps another relation of John or Rachel's.

1854 Elizabeth Banks There is no birth record for Elizabeth Banks, and she wasnt with John and Rachel in 1861. She is too old to be John or Rachel's daughter, so must be adopted, perhaps another relation of Rachel's.

There was an Elizabeth Banks with MMN = PARR born in 1852, but she is from another Banks family.  It seems likely, Peter and Elizabeth are children of HOLT+SMITH family with Peter born Q1/1851 and Elizabeth born Q4/1856 (or similarly a HOLT+KAY family).
