Martha's father was George Eastwood and her mother was Elizabeth Woodhead.  Her maternal grandparents were John Woodhead and Hannah Scover. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, John, George, Jonas, Rebecca, Priscilla, Mary and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the nine children. She had a half-brother named James.
