Matthew Blackburn

Matthew was born in March 1765 in Newsome and his christening took place on March 25th, 1765 in Almondbury.¹²

Matthew's father was Michael Blackburn and his mother was Hannah Scover. He had two brothers and a sister, named Michael, John and Mary. He was the third oldest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Matthew, John, Joseph, John, Sarah, Susana, Anne, Sarah, Hanah, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 78 on February 24th, 1844 in Newsome. His burial was in Almondbury.³

- Mathew was a farmer in 1841, aged 75 and still in Newsome with wife Ann. His half-brother John Woodhead was a neighbour.
