Sarah was born in 1750 in Newsome and her baptism took place on October 13th, 1750 in Almondbury.1 2  Sarah's father was Michael Blackburn and her mother was Anne Oldfield. She had a brother and two sisters, named Matthew, Susana and Anne.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Michael, Matthew, John and Mary.
