1769 - 1841 Ann Walker 72 72 In 1811, John's baptism showed mother as Walker rather than Ann.  Also son Jonathan had a son Walker Stocks. 1799 Jonathan Stocks In 1841, Jonathan and Ann (40 & 35) are at Marsh, Huddersfield with Ellen (15), Sarah (10), Williamson (10), Emma (8), Walker (5) and Joseph (3)

1793 - 1793 Benjamin Stocks 1830 John Stocks 1831 Eliza Stocks 1841 Ann Stocks 1850 Benjamin Stocks ~1795 - <1851 Mary Moorhouse 56 56 1824 Mary Ann Stocks 1826 - 1870 Hannah Stocks 44 44 Hannah (female servant) was with Samuel and Ann Brewer (Farmers at Bently with Arksey) in 1841.  William 40 (Ag Labourer) and Mary 39, with Fanny (12), Eliza (6) and Thomas (2) were also at Bently with Arksey. THis family were still there in 1851, so must be another family. 1831 Samuel Stocks With Willian and sister Elizabeth in 1851 1795 - 1868 William Stocks 73 73 William was widowed in 1851.  He had Samuel, Sarah and Elizabeth with him at Folley.  Folly was the abode shown for grandson Edwards baptism. 1817 Sarah Stocks 6 Oct 1839, Sarah, daughter of William Stocks, Mason, married James Taylor.  Both were from Fartown.

In 1861, Sarah (dau and widow, aged 43) living at Folley with father, working as a shopkeeper.
1821 Jane Stocks Jane was living with her father in 1861 1806 - 1838 Mary Stocks 31 31 1805 Ann Wilkinson 1813 Samuel Stocks Shoe Maker in 1841, before back to the family trade of Stone Masons.

The family Emigrated to Australia in 1855, but some must have returned as son Benjamin was imprisoned 1883 at Wakefield for 6 months for stealing towels from a warehouse.

George married Elizabeth Gilpin, but were missing from the 1851 census.  His farther had 2 grandchildren with him, and these must have been George's, as the other son Samuel was too young.

Still living at Folley in 1861 with Sarah and 2 grandchildren.

Another George Stocks ("Stork" aged 42 on 1861 census) was also born Huddersfield and was in Birkenhead with wife Letitia and family.

1814 John Hibbertson 1856 Lisah Hartley 1850 Joseph Hibbertson Joseph son of John from a previous marriage. 1811 James Taylor 1811 - 1876 John Stocks 65 65 John was a mason, employing 1 man and 1 boy in 1861 and 1 labourer in 1871.

By 1871 John is married to Mary from Beadale.
1818 - 1865 Elizabeth (Eliza) Welch 47 47 1847 Fanny Eliza Stocks Fanny Eliza married William Albert Varley, (both 22 from Hillhouse) 1847 - 1852 Sarah Hannah Stocks 5 5 1843 Ann Stocks 1840 Mary Ellen Stocks 1838 - 1911 Ben Stocks 73 73 Dan in 1851, Ben in 1861 census and later.

Married Jane Roebuck 18 Nov 1867 at St Mary Honley, and had Jane's sister with them in 1871.

He died in 1911 leaving over £11,000.  Good job Ben!

1818 - 1889 William Blakey Stocks 70 70 AD 1865 "Cutting Pile Fabrics" patent No 2547 was issued to William Blakey Stocks of Liversedge, Finisher. Also to James Whitwarm of Huddersfield, Machinist and William Blakey of Batley Carr Top near Dewsbury, Finisher, all in Yorkshire.  The patent was for an invention of "Improvements in Means of Apparatus for Cutting or Shearing the Nap or Pile of Nap or Pile Fabrics".  (See book English Patents of Inventions, Specifications: 1865, pages 2523 - 2600)

William Blakey Stocks probably married his 2nd wife Mary in Norway, as their son John was born in Christiana, (Oslo) Norway.
1820 Elizabeth Stocks In 1841, Elizabeth and Joseph were not with thier parents.  It may be this Elizabeth (2) who was with Mary Hatton (60) at Bridgehouse, Halifax.

There is no obvious marriage for Elizabeth.  She may have died young.
1827 - 1827 George Stocks 2m 2m 1830 John Stocks 1795 - 1858 George Stocks 63 63 In 1818, abode Marsh when William born, and then Hillhouse.  A Cloth dresser. 

In 1841, George and Hannah (both 45) and Sarah (2),  William (20) and John (10) are at New Road, Rastrick, Halifax, with George still a cloth dresser.

In 1851, George and Hannah (55 & 57) and son John (20) had moved back to Clover Hill Farm, Skircoat (between Elland and Halifax), a farm 41 acres.  They had grandson Thomas Halliwell (1) with them.

George (and later Hannah) are buried at Rastrick in 1856.

Nephew, a joiner, aged 25 living with Charles and Sarah Dyson in 1881.  Also has cousin Sarah E Sutcliff (aged 9) with him.

Ben was detained in 1883 for taking or stealing some Brass but was not charged.  He died in 1887, aged only 31.
1821 - 1848 Daniel Moores 27 27 Daniel, well at least his father, was a Quaker, and both were tailors. His father was William Moore and mother Charlotte. 1823 Charles Dyson Son of John Dyson 1830 Mary Cummings 1816 Sarah Stocks In 1847, Sarah Stocks (30) of Clover Hill, Skircoat, daughter of George Stocks, married Edwin Halliwell (33), Bootmaker.  Two  brothers were witness. 1865 - 1900 John Stocks 35 35 1830 - 1830 John Stocks 2m 2m 1814 - 1875 Edwin Halliwell 61 61 In 1847 Edwin Halliwell (33), Bootmaker of Westgate, Halifax married Sarah Stocks (30) of Clover Hill, Skircoat, daughter of George Stocks at Holy Trinity, Halifax.  The later had their children baptised at St John's, Skircoat, Halifax.

In 1851, Edwin, a Policeman, and Sarah (37 & 34) were at Green Terrace, Skircoat, Halifax with George (3), Thomas (2), Herbert (3 mo) and his mother Ruth Halliwell (71, born Halifax)

In 1856, when Ruth was born, Edwin was a constable at Sklrcoat, Halifax.

In 1871 Edwin Halliwell (57) was an “Invalid”, still with wife Sarah (54) and the youngest two daughters, but he had his mother-in-law Mary Noble (62, born Huddersfield). Mary Noble is actually Hannah's sister, so not quite a mother-in-law.

In 1851, Benjamin and Emma (both 36) had Sam (2) and Emma (7mo)

In 1871, Benjamin and Rachel Stocks (both 56) were at Honley with Sam (22), Emma (20), Allen (18), Mary H Stocks (15) and Maria (12).

In 1881, as well as Sam, Mary H and Maria, Benjamin had a nephew John Stocks (b.1867) with him.
