Sarah was born in 1798 in Mirfield and her baptism took place on April 6th, 1798 at St. Mary (Mirfield).1  Sarah's father was Charles Stocks and her mother was Sally (Ann) Tiffany.  Her paternal grandparents were William Stocks and Sarah Brook. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, John, Richard, William, Sally, Hannah and Mary.  She was the fifth oldest of the eight children.
