Mary was born on September 24th, 1809 in Almondbury and her baptism took place on November 3rd, 1809 in High St. Chapel Methodist New Connexion.1  Mary's father was Charles Stocks and her mother was Sally (Ann) Tiffany.  Her paternal grandparents were William Stocks and Sarah Brook. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, John, Richard, William, Sally, Sarah and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
