Hamor was born on October 4th, 1834 in Berry Brow and his baptism took place at Berry Brow Salem NC.1 Hamor's father was William Stocks and his mother was Eliza Croft. His paternal grandparents were Charles Stocks and Sally (Ann) Tiffany. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Allin, Charles, Sarah, Mary, Martha and Ann. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Oldfield, Luke, Alexander, Hannah, Martha and Eliza.-
