Charles' father was William Stocks and his mother was Eliza Croft.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Stocks and Sally (Ann) Tiffany. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Allin, Hamor, Sarah, Mary, Martha and Ann.  He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Oldfield, Luke, Alexander, Hannah, Martha and Eliza.  He died at the age of 64 on October 1st, 1900 in Southport.²
