Charles was born on February 3rd, 1836 in Berry Brow and his baptism took place at Berry Brow Salem NC conducted by William Stocks.1  Charles' father was William Stocks and his mother was Eliza Croft.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Stocks and Sally (Ann) Tiffany. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Allin, Hamor, Sarah, Mary, Martha and Ann.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Oldfield, Luke, Alexander, Hannah, Martha and Eliza.  He died at the age of 64 on October 1st, 1900 in Southport.2
