Joseph Shaw

Joseph was born on December 19th, 1817 in Sowerby and his baptism took place on September 27th, 1818 in Almondbury.¹

Joseph's father was John Shaw and his mother was Amelia (Molly) Stocks. His maternal grandparents were Samuel Stocks and Sally (Sarah) Brook. He had a brother and five sisters, named George, Ann, Ruth, Ellen, Sarah and Martha. He was the third oldest of the seven children.
