Sarah was born in 1739 in Kirkheaton and her baptism took place there on April 20th, 1739.1  Sarah's father was Joshua Stocks and her mother was Mary Brook.  Her paternal grandparents were Joshua Stocks and Elizabeth Bingley. She had a brother and two sisters, named Joshua, Bettie and Martha.  She was the youngest of the four known children.
