Edward was born on November 13th, 1312 in Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.  Edward's father was King Edward II of England and Scotland and his mother was Princess Isabella ("the she-wolf") of France.  His paternal grandparents were King Edward ("Longshanks") Plantagenet I of England and Princess Eleanor of Castile; his maternal grandparents were King Philip ("the Fair") Capet IV and Queen Joan I of Navarre.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 64 on June 21st, 1377 in Shene Palace, , Surrey, England.  He was buried in Westminster Abbey, Westminster, Middlesex, England.

‌Edward and Philippa were married in a religious ceremony on January 24th, 1328 in York Minster, York, Yorkshire, England.  They had four sons named Lionel, John, Edmund and Thomas de Woodstock.
