Louis Eliganius, known as "the Lion", was born on September 5th, 1187 in Paris, Isle de France, France.  "the Lion"'s father was King Philip Augustus Capet II and his mother was Isabella of Hainault.  His paternal grandparents were King Louis ("the Younger") Capet VII of France and Adele de Blois de Champagne; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin V of Hainault and Margaret of Alsace.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 39 on November 8th, 1226 in Chãateau de Montpensier, Auvergne.  He was buried in Saint Denis, Isle De France, France.


"the Lion"'s family with Princess Blanche of Castile

‌"the Lion" and Blanche were married in a religious ceremony on May 23rd, 1200 in Pont Audemer, Normandie.  They had three sons named Louis, Robert and Charles.
