Simon was born about 1180 in Dammartin, Seine-et-Marne, France.  Simon's father was Aubri Danmartin II and his mother was Mahaut de Ponthieu of Clermont.  His paternal grandfather was Aubrey de Danmartin I and his paternal grandmother is Joan Basset; his maternal grandparents were Renaud II and Clemence of Bar-le-Duc. He had three sisters named Juliane, Agnes and Philippa.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died on September 21st, 1239 in Abbeville, Somme, France.  He was buried in Valoires, France.


Simon's family with Marie of Ponthieu

‌Simon and Marie were married in a religious ceremony about 1212 in Aumale, Seine-Maritime, France.  They had a daughter named Joan.
