Joan was born about 1216 in Dammartin, France.  Joan's father was Simon de Danmartin II and her mother was Marie of Ponthieu.  Her paternal grandparents were Aubri Danmartin II and Mahaut de Ponthieu of Clermont; her maternal grandparents were William II of Ponthieu and Princess Adele Capet of France.  She was an only child.  She died on March 15th, 1279 in Abbeville, France.


Joan's family with King Ferdinand ("the Saint") III of Castile & Läeon

‌Joan and "the Saint" were married in a religious ceremony in 1237 in Burgos, Burgos, Spain.  They had a daughter named Eleanor.
