Eleanor was born about 1244 in Burgos, Burgos, Spain.  Eleanor's father was King Ferdinand ("the Saint") III of Castile & Läeon and her mother was Joan Dammartin.  Her paternal grandparents were King Alfonso Fernandez IX of Leon and Queen Berengaria of Castile; her maternal grandparents were Simon de Danmartin II and Marie of Ponthieu. She had a half-sister named Mayor.  She died on November 24th, 1290 in Herdeby, Lincolnshire, England.  She was buried on December 16th, 1290 in Westminster Abbey, Westminster, Middlesex, England.


Eleanor's family with King Edward ("Longshanks") Plantagenet I of England

‌Eleanor and "Longshanks" were married in a religious ceremony on October 18th, 1254 in Las Huelgas, Castile, Spain.  They had a son and three daughters, named Edward, Eleanor, Joan and Elizabeth.
