Alfonso, known as "the Conqueror", was born on July 25th, 1110 in Villa de Guimaräaes, Braga, Portugal.  "the Conqueror"'s father was Count Henry de Bourgogne I of Portugal and his mother was Princess Teresa de Castile.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Henry I of Burgundy and Sibyllean of Barcelona; his maternal grandparents were King Alfonso ("the Valiant", "the Brave") VI of Castile & Leon and Princess Chimene de Nunez y Guzman of Seville & Denia. He had two sisters named Urraca Henriquez and Teresa Henrique.  He died at the age of 75 on December 6th, 1185 in Mosteiro Decelas, Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.  He was buried in Igreja Santa Cruz, Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.


"the Conqueror"'s family with Matilda de Maurienne of Savoy

‌"the Conqueror" and Matilda were married in a religious ceremony before July 1146 in hambâery, Savoie, Medieval States.  They had a son and a daughter, named Sancho and Uracca.
