Teresa was born about 1070 in Toledo, Castile, Spain.  Teresa's father was King Alfonso ("the Valiant", "the Brave") VI of Castile & Leon and her mother was Princess Chimene de Nunez y Guzman of Seville & Denia.  Her paternal grandparents were King Ferdinand ("the Great") Sanchez de Leon I of Castile and Princess Sancha of Castile-Leon; her maternal grandfather was King Muhammad III Al-Mu'tamid Abu'l-Qasim of Seville and her maternal grandmother is I'tamid. She had two half-sisters named Elvira and Sancha.  She died on November 1st, 1130.

‌Teresa and Henry were married in a religious ceremony in 1093.  They had a son and two daughters, named "the Conqueror", Urraca Henriquez and Teresa Henrique.
