Marguerite was born in 1221 in St Maime B., Forcalquier, Bourgogne.  Marguerite's father was Raymond Berenger V (IV) and her mother was Beatrice de Savoie.  Her paternal grandparents were Prince Alfonso II of Provence and Garsenda Sabran; her maternal grandparents were Count Thomas de Maurienne I of Savoy and Margaret of Geneva. She had three sisters named Eleanor, Sancha and Beatrice.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 74 on December 21st, 1295 in Paris, Isle De France, France.  She was buried in Saint Denis, Isle De France, France.

‌Marguerite and Louis were married in a religious ceremony in Sens, Yonne, France.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Philip, Robert, Marguerite and Agnes.
