Philip was born on May 1st, 1245 in Poissy, Isle De France, France.  Philip's father was King Louis Capet IX and his mother was Marguerite Berenger of Provence.  His paternal grandparents were King Louis Eliganius ("the Lion") Capet VIII and Princess Blanche of Castile; his maternal grandparents were Raymond Berenger V (IV) and Beatrice de Savoie. He had a brother and two sisters, named Robert, Marguerite and Agnes.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 40 on October 5th, 1285 in Perpignan, Toulouse, France.  He was buried in October 1285 in Saint Denis, Isle De France.


Philip's first family with Princess Isabelle of Aragon

‌Philip and Isabelle were married in a religious ceremony on May 28th, 1262 in Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dome, France.  They had two sons named "the Fair" and Charles.


Philip's second family with Princess Marie of Brabant

‌Philip and Marie were married in a religious ceremony on August 12th, 1274 in Vincennes, Val-De-Marne, France.  They had a daughter named Marguerite.
