Alfonso, known as "the Chaste", was born in May 1152 in Huesca, Huesca, Spain.  "the Chaste"'s father was Prince Raymond ("the Chaste") Berengar IV and his mother was Petronilla Ramirez.  His paternal grandparents were Count Raymond ("the Great") III of Barcelona and Dulce Aldonza Milhaud; his maternal grandparents were King Ramirez ("the Monk") Sanchez II and Princess Agnes of Aquitaine. He had two sisters named Dulce and Aldonza.  He died at the age of 43 on April 25th, 1196 in Perpignan, Pyrâenâees-Orientales, France.


"the Chaste"'s family with Sancha of Castile

‌"the Chaste" and Sancha were married in a religious ceremony in Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Spain.  They had two sons named Alfonso and "the Catholic".
