William Pierre, known as "the Great", "the Grand", "fier de bras", was born about 0969 in Poitiers, Poitou, Aquitaine.  "the Great", "the Grand", "fier de bras"'s father was Count William ("Ironarm", Fier-áa-bras) II or IV of Poitou and his mother was Emma of Blois.  His paternal grandparents were Duke William I or III of Aquitaine and Adele of Normandy; his maternal grandparents were Theobold de Troyes II and Luitgarda of Vermandois. He had a sister named Hildegarde.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died on January 31st, 1030 in Abbey of St. Cyprian, France.

‌"the Great", "the Grand", "fier de bras" and Agnes were married in a religious ceremony before March 1018 in France.  They had three sons and two daughters, named William Pierre, William, Peter, Beatrix and Agnes.
