William, known as "the Troubador", was born on October 22nd, 1071 in Aquitaine, France.  "the Troubador"'s father was Duke William VI or VIII of Aquitaine and his mother was Princess Hildegard of Burgundy.  His paternal grandparents were Duke William Pierre ("the Great", "the Grand", "fier de bras") de Poitou III or V of Aquitaine and Agnes de Macon of Burgundy; his maternal grandparents were Prince Robert Capet I and Countess Ermengarde d'Anjou. He had a sister named Agnes. He had a half-sister named Agnes.  He died at the age of 54 on February 10th, 1126 in France.
