Matilde was born about 1224 in Brabant, Flandres.  Matilde's father was Henry II of Brabant and her mother was Maria Hohenstaufens of Germany.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry I of Brabant and Matilda of Boulogne; her maternal grandparents were Emperor Philip II von Hohenstaufen and Princess Irene Angelica of Byzantium. She had a brother named Henri.  She was the older of the two children.  She died on September 19th, 1288.  She was buried in Abbaye De Cercamp, Artois, France.


Matilde's first family with Robert Capet I of Artois

‌Matilde and Robert were married in a religious ceremony on June 14th, 1237 in Compiegne, , France.  They had a daughter named Blanche.


Matilde's second family with Comte Guy de Chatillon V of St. Pol

‌Matilde and Guy were married in a religious ceremony on May 31st, 1254.  They had a son named Guy.
