Frederich was born in 1122 in Swaben, Bavaria.  Frederich's father was Duke Frederik von Hohenstaufen II of Swabia and his mother was Princess Judith of Bavaria.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Frederik von Hohenstaufen I of Swabia and Princess Agnes of Franconia; his maternal grandparents were Duke Henry von Bavaria IX and Wulfhilda von Saxony. He had a brother and a sister, named Friedrich I Barbarossa and Berthe.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Konrad.  He died at the age of 68 on June 10th, 1190 in Holy Land.


Frederich's family with Beatrix de Bourgogne

‌Frederich and Beatrix were married in a religious ceremony on June 10th, 1156 in Wurzburg.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Henri, Philip II and Beatrix.
